Wow, we fail at keeping to this blog...

Anyway, I thought I should say "hi" and play catch up. First off, I'm having quite a problem figuring out exactly what I want to write about. And for what I considered to be my current project, seemed to fall out of my grasp and leave me wondering again. So, I still need to think of a new project. Meanwhile, I'm still editing Warrior so that I can have it published. It's gained quite a few many words from when I first finished. I've gone from 10,000 to 13,000 words and those are just basic estimates and not even properly estimated.

I'm hoping that I can add a bit more detail (as I am currently in the process of) and raising the word count even further to at least 16,000. That is my goal for Warrior.

An Author's Words

Warrior is complete, as a draft. So now I have to edit and proof everything and all that. Shame it came out shorter than I had hoped. Well, it's how it wrote itself anyway so I can't really complain. Except it drives me crazy that I have nothing to write now! After a near two years on the same project, it's hard to think of somthing else to work on. I really enjoyed working on Warrior and now I'm at a loss as to what to write now.

Warrior Update

I'm finally about to start chapter 10 of Warrior, my first real story that I think will prove to be worth all the hassle. It's shorter than I would have hoped, the chapters are really short, but I hope that won't be a problem.

I still have to go through the entire proofreading once I've finished. And I hope to get some feedback on the completed draft that I can make the appropriate edits and add what may need to be added. Then, maybe, I could get Warrior published! That, however, seems to be the hard part.

Published, that's my goal. But getting there, that'll be tough to achieve. It's a path I want to follow, and I'm prepared (hopefully) for whatever happens.

A Writer's Woes

Warrior, the one project I'm determined to follow through! And yet I'm not entirely satisfied with it. It seems short, and I don't know what to do about that....Most of the chapters are 1-3 pages, and I'm on chapter 7 (typing) and chapter 8 (handwritten). How do I expect this to be the novel I want it to become? I may have to just create a collection of short stories with specialized traits if this keeps up. Honesly, I thought it would be much longer....I can't help but to be disapointed with myself for coming up short (it's how I see it). I know that the story is good, I have had...well...a tiny bit of feedback. Which isn't encouraging at all!

What to do, what to do....How do I get it out for people to see when I'm afraid it'll be taken from me and skewed to something else and then it won't be my daughter anymore....(Yes, yes, I'm weird...my works are my babies....I can't help it!) But I want the feedback that I'm not getting from outside sources....I just want to know what I can add and what might need changing....

Ok, so I wasn't entirely wrong....

Diane Duane isn't a British writer though (this is what I get for posting without actually looking anything Sup!!!!), however, I was close (in terms of location). She lives in Ireland. This still doesn't help the wait factor if I'm right that Europe is going to be receiving their copies first. Yet hopefully, if they do, I might be able to score myself with a copy!

Yet it doesn't seem plausible when I try to look for release dates....youngwizards.com list "late 2009" (which I really hope for). And the publisher lists "4/1/2010", but that's under paperback so it's not really wanted information. I wan't the hardback, to go with my hardback Wizard's at War!

Maybe re-reading the entire Young Wizards series isn't going to be enough to help the waiting.....

An Addiction....

Hah, Got you atthe title didn't I?

It is an addiction yes...but to any substance. This would be an addiction to words. To make myself even more clear, I am obsessed with reading and a good fiction book is always welcome on my book shelf (which no longer possesses any room for what books I currently do have). I try to avoid re-reading a book if I can, unless I absolutely love it and I won't become bored at the storyline. Among such books include Ella Enchanted, and a few others. What I really can't wait for, is a new book in a series.

So far, every ending to a series has disappointed me. The Twilight series being the best example. I detest the last book, which ruined the entire series for me. I won't get rid of the books, but I refuse to read them again. Harry Potter just confused me to the point that I couldn't keep up with who was who in the end and I lost interest.

However, there are series that keep pulling me in! A dragon series (The Fire Within, Icefire, etc.) was one of them. The ideas and the plot line kept pulling me in that I don't care that the targeted audience is just a few years below me.

The one series that I absolutely love, is the Young Wizards series. I would hate to hear anyone ask if it's a rip off of HP...considering the first book was released fifteen years before HP was ever thought of by its respective author. The fact that it's open-ended and books continue to be released make it even more enjoyable for me. The small fact that the next book in the series, A Wizard on Mars, is due to come out later this year, is just torture. I can't wait for it to come out, and I want to read it! All I can do is re-read the already published first eight books of the series that I currently own as I wait (considering I'm on the seventh one now, I'm still going to be in torture as there is no definite date of release. The fact that the author, Diane Duane, is [I think] a British author, I think I'll have to wait for an even longer period of time).

Another book I'm waiting for, with just a tad bit less enthusiasm, is The Sorceress. This book from the Secrets of Nicholas Flamel (if I got that right, either way the first book is The Alchemyst by Michael Scott).

Well, I'm finally sick of sitting and waiting. I will finally fix my acursed computer! I've already run a defrag about five times, I'm running disc cleanup for about the seventh time (all within two days~).

Tonight I plan to start a thorough scan to check for any viruses and then I'll run another defrag....And then I'll back everything up before starting my experiments in restoration!

This is making my head spin....

A test today
I managed to study last night

I failed the test
information was never absorbed.

but I cannot recall
what the functions I need are
and I guess the answer to the problem
knowing that I might as well have left it blank.

Voices all around me
lecturing about the numbers on the paper
I am not meeting their expectations
and they are angry
that I cannot manage to know what I have been taught
they cannot understand why I fail.

Voices all around me
wishing for me to be what I have not become

what I think I shall never be able to accomplish
to go where I can learn more
yet I do not believe I will ever make it there.

I tried to learn
yet even so I fell behind again

Ok, so yeah I am sorry I have been dead for a bet, turned seventeen woot! So, let us see what has happened so you guys can know what is going on with me. First off, I am going to be an adult in a year or so, meaning that I have to make money; so soon I will be trying to sell merchandise here are a few examples. With my new comic series I hope to get enough fans to get me to make shirts of the characters, considering that pokemon is (C) nintendo, but my characters aren't. So besides that, I will also try to publish my book soon, free viewing of few of the chapters will be on my deviantart. Stay tune for new and interesting stuff, I swear!

Turtle Pwnage

I was bored, so I decided to tell a friend stories on the spot....This was one of them:

vizu_chan: In another universe, about three down from our home universe, there existed a kingdom of frogs o.o
vizu_chan: this kingdom was boardered by a kingdom of dragonflies and a kingdom of turtles
vizu_chan: one day, the frog king made plans with the dragonfly queen to invade the kingdom of turtles and to rule the entire land
vizu_chan: the dragonfly queen however had other plans
vizu_chan: she was going to overthrow both the frog king and the turtle prime minister
vizu_chan: and make them all slaves to her newly grown kingdom
vizu_chan: the turtle prime minister, having spies in both of those kingdoms, sent word to the ocean depths, to the waters of the great white.
vizu_chan: asking that if the great white could lend them assistance, they would have a bountiful feast
vizu_chan: the great white *shark* lent the turtle prime minister entire armies of crabs, lobsters, and weapons of starfish, coral, and other miscellaneous things
vizu_chan: as the frog king and the dragonfly queen started their joint invasion, the turtle prime minister faced them with his armies
vizu_chan: with as little bloodshed as possible, the turtle prime minister captured every single being involved in the invasion and sent them to the depths, to be fed to the peoples of the great white
vizu_chan: and so the turtle prime minister taught the world a valuable lesson
vizu_chan: dont fuck with turtles o.o
vizu_chan: they have more wisdom than u know
vizu_chan: end

I'll probably end up making this into a real story, it seems perfect for a comedy somehow...I just find it really funny....

This was an old game on N64,PS,and the PC. I found the music and the levels to be very well designed and colorful. It was a very interesting game and was a fun game to play however even though it was an interesting concept they failed at making it become a great success. I would say at least watching a few gameplay videos of it, and if you are really bored you could play it. I liked it and if i still had a N64 I would go and play it. Camera angles really suck however!

It's here again, my crazed obsession with listening to Celtic music. I can thank the book Witch by Marie Brennan for that. Not complaining though, it's lively and energetic music that's fun to dance to [once I find the time to do so where no one will look at my idiotic excuse of dancing].

However, it's given me an awesome idea for a story. The two combined anyway, the book and the Celtic music just made me want to write a fantasy novel with magic in a different world entirely.

Music itself has proven a good source of inspiration for me. When combined with daydreaming, I can get a rough plot together when I really want to. I hope that I can share one of my music inspired projects with you! My story Warrior was based off of the song Citizen Soldier by 3 Doors Down [if I remember correctly].

School and Haircut

So, I am posting this from my broadcast II from my school. Let me just say, I am a tad mad at my partner. We have to be in groups of two and my partner does NOTHING. Our first film that was due, we never finished. She did not stay after school once and was "absent" the day the film was due. Now that we are onto our second project we have to produce our own music to an art gallery at our school. Today is the day it should be done by and JUST now she goes I do not like the song and decides to change it. So I am writing this outside of the film room because I have decided that she can just finish the freaking thing. She has barely done any work so, now she can finish it. I know I will get a bad grade, but we are turning into groups of three after this. So I can maybe bring it up, if I fail school over all because of her, I will be very mad. My other grades aren't that great so, I need classes like this to bring my average up; already borderline failing overall even though I only failed one class last report card. In other news, this haircut really sucks.

Fia Andraste here, just wanting to say hello really....

My part in this company, will be mostly literature. Fiction stories and poems, though I may add my opinion or other random blather now and then. As for stories, I'll only post a few entries of a book, maybe a complete one depending on the responses, I am trying to locate a certain short story that I hope to revise (along with my other projects I'm currently in the middle of) and I hope that I will be able to post that for you to read.

I hope you will enjoy what you read here, and find something of interest. I'm sure that between the two of us we will be able to post something that appeals to a great number of people. After all, we all enjoy an escape from reality at some point, and that's what I hope to provide, an escape into another world that people will want to visit.

My first entry, however, will not be a story excerpt. Instead it will be one of my favorite poems that I have written.

Haircut

Ronan's first impressions: I was surprised at first to see the Atari logo on the game cover, I always felt they stuck to making Dragon Ball Z games or something. Being a huge gamer of games that screw with your mind I was always curious about where the survival horror genre came from. The answer is the original Alone in the Dark for the PC. Released in 1992, it was the first survival horror ever invented and it was widely liked by all gamers. Alone in the Dark (2008) got many mixed reviews and many said this game was stupid but I decided to brave the darkness and rent this game.

Plot 8/10: I found this to be a very original plot, mabye that is just me. I will try to not spoiler the plot for you, but it was a great way to bring the original game series which took place in the 1920's and 1930's and bring it into the 21st century. I plan on buying the original game for my pc if it will be able to run on it. I am very curious about the whole plot of this series and believe that this series could make a very good book.

Voice Acting 9/10: What can I say, terrific. It is hard to come across a game now that has good voices in it. They actually felt in character and felt like they enjoyed being part of the game. The graphics sometimes went out of sync with the mouths of the characters, but I will say again, I found the voice acting quite good. This proves that if you are really into the work of the game, then it will come out extremely well.

Music and Sound Effects 10/10: I absolutely love the soundtrack in this game, makes me want to actually go and buy it, hoping that the profit it will make will go towards the making of the sequel and iron out all the bugs in the future game. The music is creepy and sounds like an action flick when it comes to the exciting parts. The sound effects are good, hearing something just randomly fall or growl in the dark will make you jump. All the sounds were realistic and quite enjoyable.

Graphics 8/10: Pretty good for the Xbox 360. Obviously they were not trying to focus on the graphics too much. If you are looking for a high graphic game do not play this, however, if you want to play a game very decent graphics then this is for you. I mean I really enjoyed the graphics, I gave it a seven since it is 2008 and on an Xbox. The graphics for the Wii and PS2 I hear are good too.

Gameplay 5/10: The worst part in this game ever. It would be easier to play this game with a joy stick instead of a control and instead of hands you have chopsticks. I have played a lot of sucky games before, but I haven't seen one bad for a bit, so I was hoping that people have stopped doing this. Like many horror games (Resident Evil and Silent Hill) it is in third person and offers some scary camera angles. Scary indeed, I feel like beating the camera instead of the monsters! I should mention however that you can change to first person view, which makes it feel like a really good shooter game. I did however like the realism in it, you can find weapons laying all around the ground. It is quite fun combining a bottle of rum with napkins to make moltvol cocktails. The other thing I found amusing actually was the healing system. You get first aid sprays and must spray the areas of the cuts. Neatest thing is, it leaves scars on your skin and holes in your clothes for the rest of the level.

Did it stick to its genre? 8/10: I felt that his was a nice addition to horror games. Do not expect this thing to be really scary or something that you will not play a lot from the fear of dying in it. I was not wetting my pants like I would if I was playing fatal frame, but, it does have its "WTF OMFG" moments; ghost and man eating floors are crazy. This may result from it being realistic in the sense as real as a horror game can get. I suggest playing it alone in the dark, ha, pun.

Rent, Buy, or Burn it: I would suggest renting it, quite a fun game. I suggest you rent it and if possible play it with a bunch of friends while taking turns, but play it by yourself first before you do this.
